Nutritious Homemade Meals
Oak House Nursery has its own Five Star rated kitchen and cook who produces delicious and nutritious homemade meals.
Each month we have International Days which encourages the children to try a variety of food from around the world. In Sunshine and Rainbow Room there is a chart which advises parents on these days menu and indicates how well your child has eaten.In the Tigers and Teddies rooms this information is recorded in the childs personal daily diary.
Snack time
In the morning the children are offered milk or water together with a selection of snacks, wholemeal toast, breadsticks/dips, crumpets, rice cakes and fresh fruit. We encourage the children to develop independence and they are supported to help themselves, pour their own drinks, make choices.
Lunch time
Lunch is a delicious home cooked meal where we encourage good manners and support the children to use cutlery. It is viewed as an important social event when the children come together and also as a valuable learning experience.
Afternoon tea
This consists of a light tea examples are jacket potatoes with fillings ,ploughmans platter ,and bagels.
Drinks
Water and/or milk are the drinks we serve throughout the day we do not serve
any fruit juice or diluted drinks as part of our healthy food and drink policy. This is in conjunction with our local dental health partners.
Nut Free
We follow a ‘no nut policy’ due to allergies .We kindly ask that your child does not bring in food from home.If there are any special circumstances please speak to your child’s key person.
